Bersatu quits Pakatan; Azmin and his allies to form independent bloc

PUCHONG: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that his party has officially quit the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

In a statement, Muhyiddin said that his party made the decision in the special meeting conducted yesterday at Yayasan Selangor.

“All our MPs from Bersatu will no longer be part of Pakatan. We have signed Statutory Declarations proclaiming our support for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to remain as prime minister,” he said.

Mahathir is the Bersatu chairman.

On related matter, PKR leaders and other Pakatan who’s-who, led by deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, announced that his faction has officially decided to leave PKR with immediate effect.

In an immediate statement, Azmin said his team would form an independent bloc at the Dewan Rakyat for the time being.

Those leaving with Azmin are:

Zuraida Kamaruddin (Ampang MP)

Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah (Indera Mahkota MP)

Baru Bian (Selangau MP)

Datuk Kamaruddin Jaffar (Bandar Tun Razak MP)

Datuk Mansor Othman (Nibong Tebal MP)

Datuk Rashid Hasnon (Batu Pahat MP)

Datuk Seri Dr Santhara Kumar (Segamat MP)

Ali Biju (Saratok MP)

Willie Mongin (Puncak Borneo MP)

Jonathan Yasin (Ranau MP)

However, the PKR supreme council had earlier announced that Azmin and Zuraida had been sacked from the party.
