Bersatu endorses Muhyiddin as PM

PUCHONG: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) has nominated its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to become the next prime minister.

In a statement today, Bersatu secretary general Datuk Marzuki Yahya said that the decision was made after a meeting at Yayasan Al Bukhary earlier today.

“Party chairperson Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was also present at the meeting today,” he said.

However, he did not divulge details on whether it was unanimous decision, adding that all “36 Bersatu MPs” attended the meeting.

Bersatu only has 26 MPs.

On related matter, Malaysiakini reported that Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s gang of 11 have joined Bersatu, except for Ranau MP Jonathan Yasin.

Jonathan has appeared to distance himself from Azmin yesterday, denying he had left PKR in a post on Facebook.

He had since deleted the comment.

Yesterday, Mahathir said that he was prepared to give way to a ‘lenient’ Muhyiddin if the nomination was endorsed by Bersatu leadership.
