Bahrain Embassy in KL open Book of Condolences for late PM

KUALA LUMPUR: The Embassy of Bahrain in Malaysia has opened a Book of Condolences for signing from today to Thursday, in view of the passing of the country’s Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa last week.

The embassy, in its statement, said the signing is being held at the embassy at Level 5, Wisma Goldhill at Jalan Raja Chulan, here, from 11.30 am till 3.30 pm.

The Embassy said it hoped the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) standard operating procedures (SOP) of COVID-19 pandemic set by the Malaysian government will be followed during the visit to the Embassy.

The prime minister passed away last Wednesday (Nov 11) at Mayo Clinic in the United States at the age of 84.

According to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the late Prince Khalifa played a major role in steering the kingdom’s development throughout its modern history, which had a positive impact on the advanced civilisational image Bahrain enjoys now.

The prime minister received accolades and awards throughout his life including the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour in 2007, the UNESCO Avicenna Gold Medal in 2009, and the Millennium Development Goals Award in 2010, BNA said.

Following the passing, Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa named the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, as Prime Minister.
