Azmin’s lawyer: Sex clips are fake and slanderous

PUCHONG: Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s lawyer today alleged that there was an organised and systematic attempt to bring the down the minister’s reputation and career.

In a statement, lawyer N Surendran also said that the sex videos implicating the minister were fake, slanderous and a politically motivated attack.

“There are obvious signs of an organised and systematic attempt to discredit and bring down the minister with this false and malicious attack.

“The perpetrators had access to leaked personal data of party members, sophisticated means and a clear political agenda.

“We trust the police will get to the bottom of this, identify and take action against the culprits,” he said.

Surendran also confirmed that Azmin had recorded his statement with the police yesterday, after being called by the authorities on Sunday.

Yesterday, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Mazlan Mansor said the police have recorded 21 statements and 17 police reports have been lodged in regards to the sex videos.

Last week, unknown persons had disseminated a series of sex videos via Whatsapp, allegedly showing Azmin having sex with Santubong PKR youth chief Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz in a hotel in Sandakan.

While Haziq has admitted to being the person in the videos, Azmin had denied the allegations outright.
