Azmin says no PC after secret meet up, Dr M on his way there

PETALING JAYA: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali claimed that he would not hold any press conference after a high-profile hush-hush meeting today.

“I have no plans to hold any PC,” he said, via a Whatsapp message to Astro Awani reporters.

However, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is said to be headed to the same meeting later and is scheduled to speak to the press.

Earlier today, Azmin and those aligned to him held a private meeting at Sheraton Hotel Petaling Jaya. No details were given on what was the objective of the sudden meet up.

Among those sighted were Cabinet ministers Zuraida Kamaruddin, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and Baru Bian.

Several other unscheduled meetings and gatherings are also taking place later today, with Muafakat Nasional planning to hold a press conference later today.

Supporters of PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim are also planning to hold a gathering at his residence at Bukit Segambut to show solidarity.

Last Friday, the Pakatan leadership had decided to allow Mahathir to announce his own retirement date, as opposed to quitting in May.

It was said that the ruling coalition decided against pressuring Mahathir after the latter said that he had Statutory Declarations from 138 MPs to support his leadership, adding that he would not hesitate to form a new pact with the opposition to continue running the country.
