Azmin and gang to meet Agong, reiterates support for Dr M

PUCHONG: Former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali today confirmed that he would be meeting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah ibni Almarhum Sultan Ahmad Shah.

In a statement today, 11 of the rebel MPs from Pakatan Harapan, led by Azmin, are awaiting their turns to be interviewed by the Ruler.

“We are in the midst of waiting for our turns to be interviewed by His Majesty,” he said.

On Sunday, Azmin and other PKR members aligned to him, were expelled from PKR for trying to form a unity government with Muafakat Nasional.

Several leaders from Bersatu were also involved in the secret pact with Muafakat Nasional. The party eventually left the ruling coalition, with its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad quitting his premiership and chairmanship from the party.

Azmin, who is Gombak MP, reiterated that his team supports Mahathir to remain as prime minister until the next general election is called.

“We have always been supporting Mahathir to finish his term. Our aim is to ensure that the government remains stable and focused on economic development,” he said.

Azmin added that he also believes in multiracial Malaysia, which was reflected in his team’s composition.

“My team consists of people from various race and religion. Our priority is to strengthen national unity and celebrate diversity,” said the former minister.
