As regional ties deepen, DITP Malaysia offers one-stop support for Malaysians eyeing Thai trade opportunities
MALAY MAIL, Oct 27 — Trade between Malaysia and Thailand continues to expand, with bilateral trade hitting US$18.68 billion (RM89.4 billion) in the first eight months of 2025 — a 6.99 per cent increase from the same period last year.
With both nations targeting a trade value of US$30 billion by 2027, Thailand is calling on Malaysian entrepreneurs to tap into its growing network of high-quality suppliers, particularly in sectors where Thai industries already enjoy global recognition.
Thailand’s industrial strength lies in areas such as food and beverage — branded the “Kitchen of the World” — encompassing processed foods, snacks, and both fresh and processed fruits.
The country is also a leading exporter of halal products, alongside thriving industries in health and beauty, furniture, and home décor that appeal strongly to Malaysian consumer tastes.

“Thailand is ready to partner with Malaysian businesses to drive mutual economic growth,” said Worawan Wanwil, Director of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) Malaysia office said in a statement.
Worawan said DITP Malaysia serves as a one-stop hub for Malaysian entrepreneurs exploring trade opportunities with Thailand.
The centre facilitates business matching between importers and reliable Thai suppliers, supports participation in major Thai trade fairs such as THAIFEX – ANUGA ASIA, TAPA, and BGJF, and organises events like Thailand Week and Mini Thailand Week in Malaysia.
Beyond trade promotion, the office also provides expert consultation, delivers market insights for strategic decision-making, and acts as an official channel for handling commercial complaints.
DITP, under Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, operates a network of Thai Trade Centres globally to promote international trade and connect verified Thai suppliers through its Thai Exporters List Directory.
With Malaysia continuing to serve as one of Thailand’s most significant trading partners in ASEAN, both sides are optimistic that closer collaboration will drive regional economic growth in the years ahead.
