PUCHONG: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad this morning.

According to Malaysiakini, a PKR source confirmed that the two leaders would meet up at 9.30am later.

“Anwar will meet Mahathir at Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya by 9.30am,” the news portal reported without divulging details.

Later at 2.30, Anwar and his wife, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, are scheduled to meet Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Yesterday, Mahathir had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong along with several leaders from Pakatan Harapan and Muafakat Nasional.

Although many were coy on the details, it was near certain that Mahathir had decided a form a new ruling coalition pact with the opposition and Pakatan leaders aligned to him.

A source told The Leaders Online yesterday that Sultan Abdullah had decided to grant an audience to Anwar and Wan Azizah, as he was unconvinced that Mahathir commanded majority support in the Dewan Rakyat.

The source said that the Ruler has not ruled out the possibility of calling for snap polls to resolve the current political impasse.

On related matter, MIC president SA Vigneswaran told the media yesterday that Bersatu may quit Pakatan soon and Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali had quit PKR.
