Anwar to Azmin: Attend party meetings!

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim issued a stern warning to his deputy, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali; attend party meetings!

“I don’t know if he is boycotting party meetings or not.

“All I know, he has not attended party meetings. I have advised Azmin to attend,” he said.

Earlier, the press asked Anwar on how long Azmin would be allowed to be absent from party meetings before the disciplinary board took action against the latter.

Azmin is among several of top PKR leaders who have been absent from the central leadership and political bureau meetings due to internal problems.

Recently, PKR vice president Zuraida Kamaruddin, also one of the leaders absent from meetings, said the absenteeism was caused by Anwar, alleging that the Port Dickson MP had not entertained reconciliation letters sent to him.

According to her, Anwar only replied to the first letter saying he was going on a pilgrimage to Mecca.

“We then sent a second letter and a third, to ask for a meeting between the president and certain central leadership council members who were elected in the party polls,” Zuraida said.

Yesterday, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said those who wished to reconcile with Anwar should attend the monthly meetings.

However, Zuraida dismissed Saifuddin’s response, saying the letters were addressed to Anwar and not Saifuddin.

Commenting on the letters, Anwar said today that the matter just needed further scrutiny.

“Just come to the meeting and we’ll talk,” he said.
