Anwar to AGC: Thank you for not filing charges on Yusoff’s allegation

PUCHONG: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim thanked the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) for not pursuing charges on allegations that he had attempted to sexually assault his former research officer, Muhammad Yusoff Rawther.

The Port Dickson MP said he appreciated the AGC for its professionalism on the case, which was dropped for having insufficient evidence.

“I have read Solicitor General Datuk Engku Nor Faizah Engku Atek’s statement today. I appreciate AGC’s decision.

“I would like to say thank you to the authorities on their professionalism,” he said, on his Twitter last night.

The AGC yesterday announced that it would not prosecute anyone over the sexual assault allegation, based on recommendation made by the police.

However, she said that the police and AGC can reopen the case if new evidence surfaces.

Last year, Yusoff signed a statutory declaration alleging that Anwar had attempted to sexually assault him at the politician’s home in Segambut.
