Anwar has the numbers, says Pakatan; Agong disagrees
PUCHONG: The Pakatan Harapan presidential council has requested the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to grant an audience to PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to prove that the latter commands majority support from Dewan Rakyat.
In a statement today, the coalition lauded the Ruler’s effort in trying to resolve the current political impasse, in line with the Federal Constitution.
“But we believe that Anwar has received the majority support from MPs based on the interview sessions conducted by Sultan Abdullah.
“So, Anwar should be granted an audience with the Ruler to prove that he has the numbers,” it said.
Earlier today, the Comptroller of the Royal Family and Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said that Sultan Abdullah could not find a single MP who commands majority support at the Dewan Rakyat.
Therefore, Fadil said that the Ruler would summon top leaders of respective political parties to determine who has the most support to become prime minister.
