Anti and pro Zuraida teams gather at PKR HQ, Anwar orders them to disperse!
PUCHONG: As PKR vice president Zuraida Kamaruddin is set to arrive at party headquarters to respond to a show cause letter, a group of PKR members had gathered at the vicinity.
The group of about 200 people, consisting of both those for and opposed to her, can be seen shouting slogans either to praise or berate the housing and local government minister.
Upset with the situation, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged both groups to disperse from the place immediately.
In a statement, Anwar said the action of the groups would have no bearings whatsoever on PKR disciplinary committee’s investigation on Zuraida’s alleged transgressions.
“I want all our members to understand that such gatherings or protests will not bear any effect on the disciplinary committee’s proceedings.
“Therefore, I urge all of them to leave the area. The disciplinary committee will act against those who disobey party directives,” he said.
On Jan 18, PKR secretary general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution issued a show-cause letter against Zuraida for allegedly tarnishing Anwar’s name.
She was said to have made damaging remarks against Anwar at a PKR gathering in Hotel Renaissance on Dec 8.
Adding salt to injury, Saifuddin had also issued her a letter of demand for allegedly disparaging the former over his former government post in Kelantan, during the tenure of former menteri besar the late Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat.
It was later learnt that Zuraida would not be coming to PKR headquarters. Instead, her political secretary Noor Hizwan Ahmad would be delivering the reply letter on her behalf.
