Amirudin says Pakatan prepared for all scenarios, including solo Melaka fight if BN deal fails
GOMBAK, Aug 30 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) is always prepared for any eventuality in the Melaka state election, including contesting on its own should negotiations on cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN) fail to reach an agreement.
PH election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said, however, that sufficient room should be given to the party leadership to assess the best strategic options before any decision is finalised.
“There is still time, so let’s wait and see how things develop. I am not in a position to make the decision. So I have been asked to discuss it, and let’s discuss. But if there is no one to discuss with, what can we do? We just move forward,” he said when met by reporters after attending the National Aspirations with Youth (Nanba) for the Central Zone Series 2/2026 here today.
Amirudin, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, said this when asked to comment on a previous statement by Melaka PKR state leadership council (MPN) acting chairman Adam Adli Abdul Halim, who hinted at the possibility of PH contesting on its own should negotiations on cooperation with BN fail to reach an agreement.
He said the country’s political landscape remained dynamic and flexible, allowing each party room to determine its own approach in facing the election.
“As a political party, elections are our main business, and we will participate through various methods that can be considered.
“The situation is now rather fluid, and everyone can determine their own way of gaining the people’s support,” he said.
