All calm on Selangor coastal fronts

SHAH ALAM: The high tide phenomenon which hit the coastal areas of Selangor is reported to be under control today with no cases of seawater overflowing.

A check at the Telok Gong fishing jetty at Port Klang, near here, showed the sea relatively calm and clear weather this morning.

The Selangor Disaster Management Unit said the bunds in the coastal areas of five districts identified to be at risk were in good condition.

The Klang, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam districts have been placed on high alert for possible floods caused by strong winds and heavy rain during the high tide phenomenon.

The unit had said the high tide phenomenon was expected to occur yesterday and today, from Sept 29 to Oct 2, and from Oct 27 to 30 in the coastal areas of Selangor, with the water level predicted to hit 5.7m.

Several agencies including local authorities have been directed to be on alert.
