Air Selangor announces water disruption between July 23 and 26

PETALING JAYA: About three million water users in certain areas of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur will be affected by water supply disruptions from July 23 to 26.

The disruption is to facilitate seven upgrading works at the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant (SSP1 WTP).

Air Selangor head of distribution Kelvin Siew said each of these upgrades require a total shutdown of the water treatment plant.

“Instead of doing each upgrade individually, we are doing it all at once.

“An emergency response plan will be activated on July 22 at 100 critical premises in these seven districts, which includes hospitals, dialysis centres and clinics,” he said during a press conference today.

Water supply restoration period will vary – some within 12 hours, and others between 24, 36 and 48 hours – depending on the location of the affected areas.

The affected areas are SS2, Aman Suria, PJU 5, 7 and 8 in Petaling district; Meru, Westport Pandamaran and Japar in the Klang and Shah Alam districts; Bukit Kiara, Bukit Melawati, Bukit Damansara and Medan Damansara in the Kuala Lumpur district.

People are urged to store water during the disruption period as water tanks and local service centres will only be activated on July 25 at 8am.
