AG: No charges on gay sex video, cannot identify actors

PUCHONG: Attorney General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas said that he would not pursue charges against individuals involved in the gay sex video disseminated last year, purportedly implicating Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Tommy said he made the decision after receiving several recommendations from the police and the deputy public prosecutor (DPP).

“The US company engaged to find out the identities of the people featured in the video came out inconclusive. The company said that none of the individuals implicated in the video could be positively identified due to low resolution and lack of video frames.

“This police also received an analysis report of the video from a private individual who also stated that no identification could be done based on facial recognition,” he said, in a statement today.

Last year, unknown individuals disseminated a series of video clips, showing two men engaged in gay sex.

Former Santubong PKR youth chief Mohd Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz admitted that he was one of the man featured in the video and fingered Azmin as the other party.

However, Azmin denied the accusation and claimed it was an attempt to end his political career.

Thomas said both the findings were consistent with a CyberSecurity report submitted in Dec last year.

“So after taking all this into account, the DPP recommended for the case to be dropped.

“However, the investigations can be reopened if there are new leads,” he said.
