Accurate info on Budi95 crucial, govt to brief influencers and media, says Fahmi
PUTRAJAYA, Sept 25 — The Communications Ministry is working closely with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) to ensure that oil companies nationwide provide accurate information about the implementation of the Budi Madani (Budi95) initiative to customers at their petrol stations.
Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said this is important to make it easy for the general public to access verified information at the petrol stations when the subsidy programme officially rolls out on September 30.
“I have also requested the MOF to invite TikTokers, websites, influencers, and others interested in obtaining accurate information to attend a briefing session. This includes our partners within the Unity Government to ensure everyone is well-informed.
“We are also committed to delivering accurate information regarding any concerns raised to the general public through mass media and social media channels. This is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts,” he said at the Ministry of Communications’ monthly assembly here yesterday.
Also present were Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching and secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, as well as Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin.
Fahmi further explained that agencies such as the Department of Information (Japen) and the Community Communications Department (J-Kom) have been tasked with reviewing and understanding the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) prepared by MOF, available on the official portal www.budi95.gov.my
, to facilitate clear and accurate communication to the public.
“I have also asked the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) team to notify all National Information Dissemination Centre (Nadi) managers to thoroughly study the FAQ. This way, anyone who inquires can be promptly and accurately answered. The government aims to ensure that only Malaysian citizens benefit from this Budi95 initiative,” he said.
He added that questions regarding data use, the reason for using Touch ‘n Go as the server, and other concerns are all addressed in the FAQ, which spans over 36 pages.
Last Monday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a reduction in the price of RON95 petrol to RM1.99 per litre from RM2.05 per litre, effective September 30, under the targeted subsidy programme, Budi95.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said that all Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above and holding a valid driving licence are eligible for the RON95 subsidy. Based on data from the Road Transport Department and the National Registration Department, an estimated 16 million people qualify for the subsidy.
Eligibility checks can be made starting yesterday via the official portal at www.budi95.gov.my.
