Air Selangor: Water supply to be restored within 72 hours
PUCHONG: Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said water supply to Petaling, Sepang, Hulu Langat and Kuala Langat will be restored within 72 hours, in several phases.
In a statement today, it also said that the operation at Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (LRA) had already started at 1pm yesterday.
“Treated water has been channeled to all starting at 1am today and most areas affected have started receiving their water supply this morning.
“Based on the test result by the Health Ministry and Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN), water at Sungai Semenyih is now safe to be consumed.
“We are also in the process of stabilising the water pressure at the main pipes so all the affected areas will receive their supply in stages, depending on the geographical location,” it said.
The Sungai Semenyih plant has been forced to cease operations three days ago due to odour pollution in Sungai Semenyih, believed to have been caused by irresponsible people disposing illegal waste with solvent odours at the inlet around the Indah Water Konsortium (IWK)’s plant located in Bandar Bukit Mahkota.
Meanwhile, it said that water supply from Bukit Tampoi LRA had not been restored yet as odour pollution is still detected there.
