Preparations for KL Summit 2019 running smoothly
KUALA LUMPUR: Preparations for the Kuala Lumpur Summit (KL Summit) 2019 are going well and almost complete, said the summit’s joint secretary-general Tan Sri Samsudin Osman.
He said, so far, he was satisfied as the preparations of the summit are running smoothly.
“There are just a few things to iron out like to keep the hall neat and tidy, and the seating arrangements for special guests,” he told when met by Bernama after attending the early rehearsal of the summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) yesterday.
According to Samsudin, the full-scale rehearsal of the opening ceremony will be held tomorrow.
“We want to ensure that everything will go as planned and that there will be no unwanted issue on the actual day,” he said.
The summit, which will take place from Dec 18 to 21 is slated to be graced by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Riáyatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
The summit will be preceded by the Youth KL Summit taking place today and tomorrow.
A check by Bernama found that the security had been tightened at the KLCC and its surrounding areas.
The technical teams are actively making final preparations by installing backdrops and completing the main conference and plenary halls, as well as the media centre to facilitate the local and foreign media representatives.
Around the city centre, banners displaying ‘Welcome to Kuala Lumpur Summit 2019’ were hung along the main roads near the convention centre mainly in Jalan Pinang and Jalan P Ramlee
The summit aims to, among others, discuss and find new solutions to problems facing the Muslim world as well as to improve the wellbeing of Muslims and Muslim countries in general.
It also aims to bring together Muslim leaders, scholars, ulama and thinkers from around the world, and revive Islamic civilisation.
