PUCHONG: Health Ministry today came out with an infographic on the differences between contracting HIV and AIDS.
In a Facebook post, the ministry said the people are still confused between HIV and AIDS.
“The diagnosis for both are different but related.
“HIV is the virus that attacks the human defence system.
“AIDS, on the other hand, is a group of diseases that attack the human defence system after he or she had contracted HIV,” it said.

The ministry said there are 118,883 HIV cases while 25,925 AIDS cases reported in Malaysia from 1986 to 2018.
“Patients who contracted HIV don’t usually suffer from AIDS.
“With the latest medical development, HIV carriers can live a normal life and not suffer AIDS,” it said.
