92 Kerian District flood victims still at two relief centres

IPOH: Ninety-two people from 38 families are still seeking shelter at two temporary relief centres (PPS), following floods in the Kerian district.

According to Perak Disaster Management Secretariat Committee, 77 victims from 34 families are at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Parit Haji Aman PPS.

“The victims are from Parit 3 Kampung Alor Setanggok, Kampung Tanjung Bugis Tebok Panchur, Kampung Parit 2 Padang Lalang, Kampung Parit Air Hitam 2 and Kampung Ban Pisang. The areas were hit by floods since last Saturday,” it said in a statement here today.

Another four families, comprising 15 members, from Kampung Parit Abu Hassan Ban Alor Pongsu are still at Sekolah Kebangsaan Alor Pongsu after they were evacuated yesterday.

Various agencies including the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, the Royal Malaysia Police and the Social Welfare Department have been tasked to monitor the situation in the affected areas as well as victims at the relief centres, it added.
