189 Kelantan RTD officers mobilised for CNY operation
KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ) is intensifying enforcement of traffic rules and regulations by focusing on seven major offences in operations held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.
Its director, Hanif Yusabra Yusuf listed the seven offences as beating the traffic lights, overtaking on double lines, driving in the emergency lane, cutting queues, using mobile phones while driving , not using seat belts and not using helmets.
This strict enforcement is aimed at reducing statistics on road crashes and to cultivate a culture of safe driving and compliance with traffic laws and regulations among motorists, he told reporters after an inspection at the Lembah Sireh bus terminal here last night.
He said 189 RTD enforcement officers would be involved in the special operation for CNY being held in the state.
We will also have enforcement officers disguising as passengers in express buses, he added.
