11 illegal immigrants nabbed in Labuan

LABUAN: Eleven illegal immigrants, who included a drug addict, has been arrested in an operation in Jalan Jati here.

The four women and seven men, aged between 25 and 35, are being investigated under Section 15 (1) c and Section 6 (1) of the Immigration Act and Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, Labuan police chief Supt Muhamad Farid Ahmad said today.

He said the operation, jointly conducted by police and the immigration department yesterday, was aimed at preventing crime, and tracking down drug addicts and traffickers as well as militants.

“During the operation we also caught a drug addict,” he said in a statement to Bernama.

Farid also said four house break-in cases involving losses of RM9,230 were reported during the first week of Hari Raya while no fatal accidents were recorded in the recent Op Selamat.
