Police to Skuad Badar: You’re not an enforcement body

PUCHONG: The police warned Muslim vigilante group, Skuad Badar from doing anything that goes against the law of the land.
In a statement, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Mazlan Mansor reminded Skuad Badar that the group was neither a legitimate religious enforcement body nor do they have any enforcement powers under the law.
“And I would like to stress that any organisation that is not registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) is considered an illegal entity and stern action will be taken against them, he said.
Skuad Badar, helmed by its president Azhar Mohamad, is a Kedah-based NGO that is aimed at preventing vice, particularly ‘khalwat’ (close proximity) among Muslims.
Azhar and his men were arrested in January and was charged for being part of an illegal organisation. They were slapped with fines for the offence.
The group vows to make a comeback and is planning to register itself with the ROS.
