EC to hold special meeting to fix Sabah election dates
KOTA KINABALU, Oct 6 — The Election Commission (EC) has acknowledged the dissolution of the 16th Sabah State Legislative Assembly and confirmed its readiness to conduct the upcoming state election.
EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said preparations are already in place in accordance with Article 21(4) of the Sabah State Constitution.
He said a special meeting will soon be convened to determine the key dates for the 17th Sabah State Election, including nomination and polling day.
The details of these dates will be announced once they are finalised following the meeting.
The EC issued the statement following the chief minister’s announcement of the assembly’s dissolution earlier on Monday.
