Dzulkefly: Two new cases of  coronavirus in Malaysia, total now at 12

PUCHONG: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said that two new cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus has been confirmed in the country, making the total number now at 12.

Dzulkefly said the two new cases involves Malaysians, who were part of the group brought back from Wuhan, China yesterday.

“The father and the child are now receiving treatment in the isolation ward at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital, Seremban and both of them are in stable condition.

“So for now, we have nine cases involving China’s citizen and three cases affecting Malaysians,” he said, in a statement today.

He said there are currently 257 patients under investigation (PUI) for the coronavirus, from Jan 10 until 10am today.

“The PUI cases involves 161 Malaysians, Chinese (91) and one each from Australia, South Korea, Jordan, Brazil and Thailand.

“Five cases have been confirmed positive of the novel coronavirus, whereas 235 cases are negative and 17 cases are still waiting for laboratory result,” he said.
