PUCHONG: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad today said a tourist from Wuhan, China has been confirmed infected by the novel coronavirus in Malaysia.
Dzulkefly said the woman, aged 59, is the 15 confirmed novel coronavirus cases detected in the country.
“The woman came to Johor Bharu with her family on Jan 26 from Singapore and started having fever. She arrived in Singapore on Jan 17.
“She was supposed to go back to China taking the flight from Johor Bharu to Guangzhou on Feb 4 but cancelled it as she wasn’t feeling well. Only her son and daughter in-law took the flight,” he said, in a press conference today.
Dzulkefly said the woman was tested positive with novel coronavirus yesterday and is now receiving treatment at an isolation ward in Permai Hospital, Johor Bharu.
“Her husband is also with her at the isolation ward. So far, he has not shown any symptom but we have tested him for the virus infection. We are still waiting for the laboratory result,” he said.
