Three family members were killed in a house fire
TAIPING: Three members of a family were burnt to death in an early morning, house fire at Lorong Merbah, Kampung Sungai Relong, Kamunting here today.
According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department, two people were also injured, one of them with serious burns, in the fire which broke out about 1am.
The department received a distress call at 1.20am, following which a fire team from the Kamunting Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by the Taiping station, rushed to the scene, and upon arrival, found 80% of the house in flame,” he said in a statement here today.
He said the deceased were believed to be a woman, her daughter and a son, while the injured were an adult man and a young boy.
The bodies were handed over to the police, while the injured were sent to the Taiping Hospital.
The fire-fighting operation ended at 4.40am.
