Mukhriz will challenge Muhyiddin for PPBM presidency
PUCHONG: Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhkriz Mahathir will challenge Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president post in the coming party’s election.
Its Party Election Committee (JPP) chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar said another member Mohd Faiz Azlee Sham also registered himself to compete for the post.
“Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahahtir Mohamad will likely retain his post as the party chairman as no other candidate has registered to challenge him for the post,” he said after the party’s election nomination registration at its headquarter in Petaling Jaya today.
Hamid said Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin, Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee and Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof are among 15 members who have registered to compete for the vice president post.
He added the date to organise the party election will be announced later after Registrar of Societies (ROS) has issued ordered that no summits nor meetings should held until June 30.
