Umno-PAS: We didn’t endorse Muhyiddin, want snap polls

PUCHONG: Muakatat Nasional today denied a new report which claimed that the pact was is support of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to become the next prime minister.

In a statement today, Umno secretary general Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that both Umno and PAS stand by their decision that the Parliament should be dissolved and call for a fresh general election.

“We have conveyed our message to the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong that we all need to seek a fresh mandate from the people to resolve this political mess.

“Therefore, the report by the news agency was inaccurate,” he said.

Earlier today, The Star was reported saying that Muafakat Nasional MPs have signed Statutory Declarations (SD) to allow Muhyiddin to take over the premiership.

As of now, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has completed interviewing all the MPs as scheduled. He has also met interim Prime Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad this morning for unknown reasons.

Annuar then urged all media outlets to only publish official statements issued by his party.

“Any statements in regards to the current political scenario will only be issued by our president or me,” said the Ketereh MP.
