KLCI down by nearly 27 points amid talk of change in govt
PUCHONG: The FBM KLCI today fell by 26.48 points this morning, following due to uncertainty over speculation that there may be a change in government today.
As of opening time, the stock market only opened at 1,501.47 but it later went up slightly to 1,503.59 points.
The number were of by 27.61 point, which reflected a drop of 1.65% from its highest posting at 1,508.8.
Yesterday, Mahathir had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong along with several leaders from Pakatan Harapan and Muafakat Nasional.
Although many were coy on the details, it was near certain that Mahathir had decided a form a new ruling coalition pact with the opposition and Pakatan leaders aligned to him.
A source told The Leaders Online yesterday that Sultan Abdullah had decided to grant an audience to Anwar and Wan Azizah, as he was unconvinced that Mahathir commanded majority support in the Dewan Rakyat.
The source said that the Ruler has not ruled out the possibility of calling for snap polls to resolve the current political impasse.
On related matter, MIC president SA Vigneswaran told the media yesterday that Bersatu may quit Pakatan soon and Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali had quit PKR.
