Marine Police detain four people involved in fish bombing in Semporna
SEMPORNA: The Marine Police arrested four people, including a shopkeeper, believed to be involved in fish bombing, here, yesterday.
Sabah Marine Police Region 4 commander ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said all the suspects were picked-up between 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm.
“Semporna Marine Police raided an unnumbered house in Kampung Pulau Omadal at 3.30 pm and detained a 47-year-old woman, who is the owner of a shop selling fish caught using explosives, and a 48-year-old man.
“An inspection showed up a red barrel containing 20 kg of fish of various species and 16 kg of ammonia fertiliser used to make fish bombs,” he said in a statement here today.
Two other suspects, Pala’u men aged 22 and 27, were detained for using fish bombs in the Kampung Sum-Sum waters.
The police found 200 kg of fish in their boat, he said.
