Rosmah to be charged for accepting gratification tomorrow
PUCHONG: Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will be charged at the Sessions Court, Kuala Lumpur, confirmed Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) in a statement.
She will be facing charges under section 16A (a) of the MACC Act, 2009. Section 16A (a) makes accepting gratification an offence.
MACC confirmed that she was arrested this afternoon at 1.45pm as she presented herself to assist the MACC’s last stage probe onto the case involving solar panels.
She was subsequently released on bail.
Rosmah was first charged for accepting gratification from a company that sought assistance to obtain solar energy supply project to rural Sarawak schools.
If found guilty, Rosmah faces imprisonment of up to 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the sum or value of the gratification or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
