Nigeria: M’sia should invest in our mineral,mining sector

PUCHONG: Nigeria Mines and Steel Development Minister, Olamilekan Adegbite said mineral and mining sector in that country is still largely underdeveloped and he is looking for investment to develop the sector.

With that in mind, a delegation from Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office came to Malaysia looking for investors.

The Office director general Obadiah Simon Nkom is working with My Events International to attract investors in Malaysia to mine steels, gems and minerals in Nigeria.

“We want to bring foreign direct investment back to Nigeria especially in this sector. We came to Malaysia to encourage and show Malaysians that there are a lot of investment opportunities in my country.

“Nigeria president Muhammadu Buhari himself has also given priority to the mining sector,” he said.

He added that the Nigeran government has taken steps in accommodating and facilitating investors that wanted to do business in the country such as visa and incentives.

“We have taken steps to facilitate businesses to invest in Nigeria,” he said.

Malaysian Indian Goldsmith Jewellers Association, Asia Gemological Laboratory, YAPEIM Gold, Ace Capital Growth Global Gemological, Asia Gemlab and Association of Goldsmith of Malaysia had shown interest in the initiative.
