Penang govt lauds tourism industry players´ efforts

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government has praised the efforts taken by tourism industry players in making Penang an attractive tourist destination.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said their offer of attractive travel packages was greatly appreciated, as it was also in line with the Penang2030 vision in creating a variety of quality tourism products.

“With all the effort that we are taking to popularise our different unique offerings or destinations, let’s work together to make Penang, the Pearl of the Orient shine brightly for years to come,” he said when speaking at the launch of “Touch of Malaysia Christmas Celebration”, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme here last night.

He also called on the public and corporate companies to participate in the Christmas tree decorating competition, which would be held on Dec 7.

According to him, 150 Christmas trees would be adopted and decorated at the celebration, which would later donated to charity homes once the winners are announced on Dec 21.

“Everyone deserves to have a good time this Christmas season and I hope that with so many activities planned, the children, the elderly and those from welfare homes will be able to embrace the Christmas spirit,” he added.
