Budget 2027: Government earmarks RM60m for Matrade, RM1b to boost MSME exports

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 – The federal government will allocate RM60 million to the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) to help build local companies’ capacity to enter and diversify their overseas markets, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.

In his Budget 2027 speech, Anwar said Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) will also prepare RM1 billion to support local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to explore the export market.

Anwar said the federal government together with the civil servants’ pension fund KWAP will set up a RM50 million UNIVC fund to bring universities’ research to the market, and added that the government will also bear the preliminary risk to enable more private capital to support local inventions.

He said the federal government will also allocate RM142 million for the NADI platform which has enabled many young entrepreneurs to benefit from e-commerce, pointing out that coffee entrepreneur Azmi Warisan from Kampung Sungai Leman, Selangor had successfully increased his revenue by 80 per cent or RM240,000 after using the Nadi platform.

He said JOM Malaysia will also have RM10 million to bring rural products and high-value services to digital platforms and overseas markets.

In support of the low-altitude economy such as those involving drones, Anwar said the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) will invest RM50 million to develop a digital system to manage airspace, national testing site and safety standards.
