No Tsunami threat to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit the north of the Moluccan Sea, Indonesia, at 10.34 am. today.

In a statement issued today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said the quake was centered 130 kilometres south of Pulau Talaud, Indonesia, at a depth of 10 km.

However, the earthquake did not carry the threat of a tsunami to Malaysia, the statement said.
