Four teen boys arrested in alleged Baling sexual assault case, second school gang-rape incident this month
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — Police have arrested four teenage boys in Baling who are suspected of being involved in the sexual assault of a female student.
According to Astro Awani, three of the suspects are students at a school in the Kedah district, while the fourth is a former student of the same school. The incident was allegedly recorded and shared on social media.
Acting Baling District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Salimi Mat Ali said the victim’s father lodged a police report last Sunday after being informed by a disciplinary teacher about a nude video of his daughter circulating online.
“Police conducted an investigation and arrested three current students and a former student at about 9.30pm on Sunday.
“Preliminary investigations found that the suspects were involved in incidents that took place between May and August at several locations within the school compound,” he told Astro Awani today.
He said all four suspects have been remanded for five days from the date of their arrest, and six mobile phones have been seized for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 375B of the Penal Code for gang rape and under provisions related to the distribution of child pornography.
This comes as four male students accused of gang-raping a Form Three girl in Alor Gajah will be brought before the Melaka Magistrates’ Court today.
The assault is believed to have taken place on October 2 inside a classroom, with two of the suspects said to have filmed the act on their mobile phones. The case surfaced after the video circulated online and was reported by the victim’s mother.
