Jais launches offensive on Shias in Friday sermon
PUCHONG: The Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) went on an offensive against the Shia Muslims in its Friday sermon entitled ‘O Hussain, O Hussain, O Hussain as it questioned why Shias merely glorified Hussain ibn Ali.
Hussain who is the grandson of Prophet Muhammad was assassinated on 10 Muharram during thrwar that is known as Day of Karbala. It commemorates Ashura celebration which is observed by the Shias.
“If we are to ponder deeply, why do they only mourn the assassination of Hussain? Why not mourn the assassination of Hamzah, Umar, Uthman, and Ali?” said Jais.
“While we all know that the incidents that led to their demise were also tragic, and they were all Companions of the Prophet whom had excruciatingly struggled along with the Prophet in laying the foundation for the spread of Islam during its early stages.”
Jais went to question the Shia’s creed, known as aqidah.
“Indeed, such deviant teachings being practiced are not just mere practice, but they were carried out based on their aqidah and belief that had strayed from authentic Islamic teachings.
“How is it not so when it is from their ‘aqeedah that Sayyiduna Abu Bakar, ‘Umar, ‘Uthman, and Mu’awiyah are all deemed as the idols of the Quraysh who have supposedly seized the position of the caliph from the hand of ‘Ali.
“Moreover, they firmly believe that the Prophet’s Companions have all become murtad(apostates) after the demise of the Prophet.
Jais also described the celebration in a demeaning manner.
“That day is celebrated by the Shias with various activities such as lectures, singing, and procession in manifesting their grief upon such tragic event.
“What is heinous and funny is their continuous slapping and hitting their chest while shouting “O Husayn, O Husayn, O Husayn!” Even more nauseating is the procession that is soaked with blood through the stabbing of the stomach, carving and injuring their head as well as their back with sharp objects.
“Verily, such deeds truly have deviated tremendously from the authentic teachings of Islam, and they are even similar to the actions of the Zoroastrians (Magians)and idol worshippers.”
Jais also described Shiism as a belief which “is truly nonsense that is unacceptable to the intellect.”
In addition to that the department even claimed that Shias declared the Prophet’s wife, Aishah as disbeliever.
Jais also claimed that Shias declared the Quran used by Sunni Muslims as corrupted.
