“Police, what is your stand on ‘missing’ GST refund?”
KUALA LUMPUR: Khairy Jamaluddin (Rembau-BN) pushed for the police to make a stand over the ‘missing’ GST refund amounting to RM19 billion since he had lodged police reports on the matter.
“I made a statement when I lodged the police report. When the report is verified by the PAC, I think the police should follow up on that.
“Because this is in relation to a crime. If there are no criminal elements, the police must come up with a statement, at least,” he told a press conference with opposition leaders today.
Khairy lodged a police report in August after Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng claimed that the amount was missing, causing the former BN government to be unable to refund credit tax to the companies.
Earlier today, PAC chairman Noraini Ahmad clarified that the amount was not missing but was placed in a consolidated revenue account and used for government expenditure instead.
This resulted in Opposition Leader Ismail Sabri Yaakob attempting to refer Lim to the rights and privileges committee.
