PUCHONG: PKR vice president Zuraida Kamaruddin will take leave from her duties pending investigation on issues dogging her political career.
Speaking at a press conference today, Zuraida’s political secretary Nor Hizwan Ahmad said the former had issued a letter on the matter to the PKR leadership two days ago.
“Zuraida will be taking a break pending the investigation from the disciplinary board.
“However, this will not affect her duties as a Cabinet minister” he said.
Last month, a commotion ensued between pro and anti-Zuraida camps outside PKR headquarters, when the PKR leader replied to a show-cause letter issued by the party disciplinary committee.
The anti-Zuraida camp had also launched several protests against her outside her ministry’s office and events, prompting the long-time PKR leader to lodge a police report.
Zuraida has courted controversy after she was alleged to have criticised PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at an event at the Renaissance Hotel in Seremban, on Dec 8.
She is known as an ally of PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who is now at loggerheads with Anwar.
On Zuraida’s leave of absence, Hizwan said Zuraida made the decision to allow party disciplinary board to conduct a proper investigation to her case, without being pressured by anyone.
“Zuraida had also replied to every question raised in the show-cause letter,” he said.
