SHAH ALAM: People’s Wellbeing & Rights Organisation (Power) [1]today lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in regards to a police raid on a private party recently, which implicated several prominent political leaders in drug abuse.
Its chairman, S Gobi Krishnan arrived at MACC office in Shah Alam at 11 am and left around 12pm after filing the report.
Also present was National Anti-Corruption Movement chairman Datuk Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor.
Speaking to reporters after lodging the report, Gobi alleged that a minister may be involved in the private party raided by the police.
“We all know about the police raid on a condominium in Puchong, which held a drug-fuelled party. Several Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) leaders, including special officer to the Youth and Sport Minister, was arrested for drug abuse.
“However, our witness saw a Toyota Alphard MPV, carrying the ‘Menteri’ emblem, being present at the scene of the crime but the car left before the raid,” he said.
Gobi added that many were oblivious to the presence of a minister’s official car during the party and the police did not disclose that information to the public.
“So, we lodged this report hoping that MACC will investigate whether a minister was present at the private party or not.
“If a minister was present, the public needs to know who is the person and why was he or she getting involved in a drug-fuelled party,” he said.
Asked about the identity of the eye witness, Gobi refused to disclose the information citing security reasons.
“We are protecting the witness’ identity on the advice of MACC,” he said, adding the eye witness would lodge a separate report later on.
On Jan 12, the police arrested 17 individuals in the wild party. Among those nabbed were Dengkil state assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah[2] and several officials from the KBS.
Bersatu youth chief Syed Saadiq Syed Abdul Rahman yesterday said that he had suspended youth wing members caught in the raid.
