SEREMBAN, Oct 31 — The Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, has revoked the Darjah Setia Negeri Sembilan (DSNS) award conferred on Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Board of Directors chairman Prof Emeritus Dr Mohamad Abd Razak, with immediate effect.

According to a Bernama report, Registrar of Orders Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim said in a statement yesterday that the decision was made to preserve the dignity and honour of the Royal Institution of Negeri Sembilan.

Dr Mohamad was originally awarded the DSNS, which carries the title Datuk, in 2004.

According to a separate report published in Berita Harian, the UKM chairman appointment was part of a recent reshuffle, replacing Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, whose tenure ended on October 31, 2021.

A trained orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Mohamad earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Master of Surgery (Orthopaedics) degrees from UKM’s Faculty of Medicine.

He served as president of the Malaysian Orthopaedic Association from 1996 to 1998 and gained international experience as a visiting registrar at the University of Edinburgh’s Orthopaedic Department, as well as a registrar and clinical fellow in Spinal Intelligence at Southport Spinal Injuries Centre in Liverpool, Britain.
