PUCHONG: Amid the power struggle and possible realignment of the government, members of the press have been working and day and night trying to break latest news to the public.

The massive amount of work has taken a toll on many media practitioners, who have gone days without enough sleep and proper meals.

Even the sensitive person, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah ibni Almarhum Sultan Ahmad Shah, realising the plight of journalists, he decided to do one thing he knows best.

And that is, being a caring monarch!

Since yesterday, Sultan Abdullah has been providing free meals to media personnel gathered outside the Istana Negara.

While yesterday journalists were served with Kentucky Fried Chicken, today they have been served food from McDonalds.

And Sultan Abdullah managed to all this despite having a daunting task of interviewing all 222 MPs in person for the next two days!

Not to be outdone by the Pahang royalty, several others also stepped up their game to impress the press.

Bitter foes, PAS and Amanah, started dishing out goodies and food stuff to media personnel gathered outside Istana Negara. They gave out rice dishes with several types of condiments.

Even the private sector chipped in to assist the press.

AirAsia started dishing out Nasi Lemak Pak Nasser and a variety of juice types. Beverage maker F&N brought out 100 Plus in crates to the delight of those outside Istana Negara.

Now, the press outside Istana Negara are so spoilt for choice, they have no idea which one to pick!

Thank you, Sultan Abdullah for your kind gesture! We would also like to show appreciation to the private sector for chipping in during these trying times.

To the political parties that offered us food, thank you as well. However, do be reminded that we would not be able to help you guys win over MPs to form a new government!
