KUALA LUMPUR : The newly elected Tanjung Piai MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng takes his oath as a member of the Dewan Rakyat today.
The ceremony, which took place before Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof, preceeded the other businesses of the Dewan Rakyat.
After Wee took his oath, Ariff congratulated him on his triumph at the Tanjung Piai parliamentary by-election on Saturday.
‘’Hopefully, you will be able to make useful and beneficial contributions and serve excellently. Congratulations, once again,’’ he said.
The Tanjung Piai by-election saw Wee from Barisan Nasional (BN) beating five other candidates including Karmaine Sardini from Pakatan Harapan (PH).
It was held following the death of incumbent, Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafik due to heart complications on Sept 21.
Wee, 55, was a two-term MP of the seat, from 2008 to 2018, before losing in the 14th General Election.
