BEAUFORT: A teenage boy hanged himself to death after being scolded by his elder sister for skipping school.
District police chief Deputy Supt Azmir Abdul Razak said the teenager’s body was discovered at the third floor of a shoplot in Lo Chung Park, at about 1.50pm yesterday.
“The police went to the scene at about 2.05pm. By the time they arrived, the body of the 15-year-old was already placed in the living room.
“An ambulance was also at the scene. Further investigations showed that the victim had died from hanging himself,” he said.
Azmir added that investigations revealed that his 51-year-old mother left for work at about 6.40am, and his younger brother went to school.
“He was left at home with his elder sister. Before leaving for work, she told him off for playing truant.
“His younger brother came home at about 1.30pm and found teenager hanging from the ceiling in the bedroom.
“He untied the rope around the victim’s neck and immediately contacted his mother,” said Azmir.
The body was sent to Hospital Beaufort for a post-mortem. The case has been classified as sudden death.
