UMNO-PAS Taliban state remark: Umno will sue DAP’s Nga
PUCHONG: Umno secretary general Annuar Musa has confirmed that his party would be suing Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming over Nga’s claim that Umno and PAS’ joint rule would result in Malaysia becoming a Taliban state.
“Umno has decided to initiate legal action against an elected representative from a particular party who attempted to link and slander Umno with the Taliban.
“I have signed the letter this morning giving the mandate to a law firm to take action,” Annuar who is also Ketereh MP tweeted.
Annuar also said that the DAP has racist leaders in response to another Twitter user.
“DAP might be racist, or it might not be… What is certain is that DAP practices a socialist and secularist policy. But everyone knows there are those amongst its leaders who are racist,” said Annuar.
Nga who is also the Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker refused to apologise for likening an Umno PAS administration of Malaysia would be akin to the Taliban ruled Afghanistan.
He said the Umno – PAS coalition would harp on race and religion to gain support and implement policies that would victimize non-Malays and moderate Malays.
Nga made the remark during an event in Perak earlier this month.
Last week Noh Omar (BN-Tanjung Karang) was barred from attending the Dewan Rakyat when he openly insulted Nga.
In response to Nga’s remark, Marang MP Abdul Hadi Awang who is also PAS president accused the DAP of being backed by the communists.
Even Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad criticised the Umno-PAS alliance as being detrimental to race relations.
