KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 — The area surrounding the lake at Tasik Seksyen 7 will be closed daily from 8pm to 7am until a crocodile, reportedly sighted in the area, is captured.

The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) made the announcement today via its official Facebook page.

“The closure will commence at 8pm on Wednesday (September 4) and will last until 7am the following morning.

“Subsequent closures will also take place from 8pm until 7am daily, until the crocodile is caught,” MBSA said.

MBSA also announced that the temporary closure will affect recreational activities such as jogging, as well as trading activities during the specified hours. Fishing is strictly prohibited.

“Food stall operators are permitted to continue operating as usual but must cease business by 7pm.

“This precautionary measure is to ensure a quieter environment during the operation and to safeguard public safety, preventing any potential incidents.

“Visitors are advised to exercise caution when near the lake until the operation to capture the crocodile is successfully completed.”

In the same statement, MBSA said that the Selangor Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) is overseeing the operation to locate the predator.

“Selangor Perhilitan has deployed two traps at Tasik Seksyen 7, Shah Alam. MBSA is also assisting by placing nets in five water channels to prevent the crocodile from escaping,” the statement read.
