Sex video: Five released, Haziq and Farhash still remanded

PUCHONG: Five of those arrested together with Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz in connection with the sex video case have been released.

Speaking to The Star Online, Bukit Aman CID chief Datuk Huzir Mohamed said the five, who were detained on Sunday, were released after their remand orders expired.

“They were released yesterday,” he said.

The six-day remand order for Haziq, who is the former Santubong PKR Youth chief, will expire tomorrow.

Yesterday, the High Court reduced the remand order for the other five detainees from six days to four days.

Meanwhile, Huzir said PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary, Farhash Wafa Salvador, is still in detention.

Farhash, who is also Perak PKR chief, was part of the second wave of arrests. He was detained along with two other suspects in Pasir Gudang, Johor on Tuesday.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador said investigations revealed that a leader of a political party was behind the sex video implicating Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He also said that CyberSecurity Malaysia has indicated that the video was authentic but they could not establish the identity of the duo featured in the video.
