PUCHONG: Selangor menteri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari confirmed that the Selangor state government was still intact despite the collapse of Pakatan Harapan, following the departure of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
In a statement today, Amirudin said that state PKR, DAP and Amanah leaders had an audience with Selangor ruler, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to explain the current political scenario of the state.
Those who met the Ruler were Amirudin (Selangor PKR), Gobind Singh Deo (Selangor DAP) and Izham Hashim (Selangor Amanah).
“We met the Sultan this morning at Istana Bukit Kayangan and explained the current situation to His Majesty.
“And His Majesty was pleased with our explanation and consented that the current state leadership should continue, in order to fulfil our election pledges to the people,” said Amirudin.
However, the same cannot be said about the state of Malacca.
In a report by Malaysiakini, its chief minister Adly Zahari appeared to be heading towards the sunset in an emotional social media post.
In the post, Adly expressed gratitude to those who have supported him along the way of him helimg the state.
“Although the time is short, I have tried my best with all the energy I have to relieve my people from hunger, evil and sadness,” Adly said in a social media posting.
Malacca state executive councillor Tey Kok Siew was also reported saying that Pakatan no longer commanded majority support in the state legislative assembly following Bersatu’s exit.
“Bersatu had quit from Pakatan and we do not have the numbers now,” said Tey, who is also the Malacca DAP chief.
Pakatan initially commanded 15 out of the 28 state seats. With the departure of its two Bersatu reps, Pakatan would only have 13 state assembly seats.
